  • Beautiful Day

Well it was a beautiful almost summery day and my parents came here and I was inspired to take them to the Shrine of Our Lady of the Island in Easport. The wonderful thing about moving to where I have moved is that I live about 10 minutes away from there now. They are run by volunteers and they only ask donations, so it is not costly to visit. It is isolated and is many acres big, it is all on donated land. There are many statues of saints and there are many places to pray and just BE. I was raised a catholic and more than sitting in any church, I have always felt more comfortable out in nature while praying or just being .. and at this shrine, there are many places to sit alone and be quiet.

When we went today my mom put a small rosary on the statue of Mother Theresa and just placed her hands on the statue ( I am sure a no no lol ) and she said the energy coming from that statue was incredible .. she had to sit down.

here is a link to the shrine on the web

My dad took a lot of pictures and he seemed to enjoy it - he said his prayers so that he will be able to 'stick around awhile longer' My daughter is getting married in Sept of 07 and she asked her Poppy to walk her down the aisle. So he is praying hard and doing what he is told to do .. no easy task for him !

My mom also said a prayer to St Theresa for her sister, My Godmother, who has had to put her husband in a nursing home as he has developed alzheimers. She also has a 60 year old daughter with MS .. her burden is heavy and shes a bit down right now .. doing her best.. she has been married more than 50 years .. so its very tough on her. I told my mom to go and visit her.. so I am praying she does and soon.

Such is family life around here lately. Overall we had a very nice day, I find that the days are nicer here at my home because it is just a much more peaceful energy with no interference from other family members... they come here and can just have peace or we find it together. I try to set the example for them.. it took me half a lifetime to achieve such peace and feel that maybe by seeing me settled, they will just settle down themselves.. It could happen !

Tuesday when I was at my moms house, I took lots of pics of her gardens. My mom and dad love to collect old birdhouses at yard sales or make them out of old mailboxes and things and also to put in her garden. My mom has the greenest of thumbs, she can grow just about anything. Her gardens grow wild and they just look spectacular by summers end..but they are free flowing and not the least bit 'anal' they are wild. While wandering through her gardens you would never guess you were standing on a 1/4 acre subdivision 3 blocks from the second biggest highway on the island. You hear birds singing and flying about and all around you are plants of every height and color. I love her gardens and so I took many pictures just for posterity because sadly nothing lasts forever ....
